Oklahoma City All Sports Association Scholarship

Congratulations to Brette Throckmorton of Dale High School and Kassidy Cook of Shawnee High School, recipients of the 2010 Oklahoma City All Sports Association Scholarships!

Kassidy plans to attend the University of Oklahoma to major in engineering with a pre-med focus. Throckmorton also plans on attending the University of Oklahoma and majoring in international studies with double minors in zoology and chemistry.

The scholarship recipients were chosen based on characteristics consistent with the mission of the All Sports Association. Other characteristics that were strongly considered included excellence in leadership, athletic participation, extracurricular activities, and academics throughout their high school career. Requirements included students that participated in high school athletics, but must not be receiving other scholarships for college athletics.


Qualification: Applicant must be a graduating senior from a high school in the greater Oklahoma City Metropolitan Area (Oklahoma, Canadian ,Cleveland, Logan and Pottawatomie counties, Newcastle, Tuttle & Bridgecreek), and must attend a college or university in the state of Oklahoma. The student must have participated in high school athletics, but cannot be receiving any scholarship or funds to participate in college athletics. A minimum GPA of 3.0 and ACT score of 22 is required. Applicant must be accepted to a 2-year or 4-year Oklahoma college or university. Children of Oklahoma City All Sports Association employees or board members are not eligible.

Application will require student comments on value of sports/athletics to students and to community. Also, nominating coach or teacher may make supporting statements for student.

Selection: Selection committee will consist of three board members appointed by the President. The process will include independent scoring by each member. Executive committee will approve selections.

Presentation: An Oklahoma City All Sports Association representative will make Scholarship presentations at school award assemblies or banquets. Recipients will be invited, and expected (best efforts), to attend the All-College for an on-court presentation. Two tickets will be provided.

Administration: The scholarship may be used for any semester(s) enrolled, and must be used within 2 years.

The student must submit a “Enrollment Certification Form”
which is available at the college or university office of records.

The check will be mailed to the college or university’s bursar office
and credited to the student’s account. The recipient will receive a copy of the cover letter to the school, which accompanies the check.
