Consistently high ranked Alabama has been a favorite to win the tournament this season. After fumbling against No. 11 Tennessee last week, the Crimson Tide came back and swept a three-game series with Arkansas this past weekend. As a result, Alabama is the No. 1 softball team in the nation for the second week in a row.
Georgia has also had an impressive season so far. The Bulldogs won all three of their games over the weekend against previously second ranked Florida. Sweeping the Gators advanced Georgia the No. 2 spot over Florida, now No. 5. Georgia will attempt to continue their winning streak when they face No. 25 Georgia Tech at home tomorrow at 6:30 p.m.
The Big 12 Conference has also had a strong presence this season, with eight teams currently ranked in the Top 25. The Texas Longhorns, who are currently on a 13 game winning streak, are currently No. 8 in the nation, followed closely by No. 13 Nebraska and No. 15 Oklahoma. Missouri, Baylor, Oklahoma State, Texas A&M, and Texas Tech also all remained in the Top 25 for the second consecutive week.
