Oklahoma City All Sports has eight to ten Internship spots each semester for students interested in gaining experience in the Sports event planning field. Interns at All Sports work 10-12 hours a week and have a variety of responsibilities to complete in the office and at All Sports events. Office tasks include planning, organizing, directing, implementing, and evaluating all operational, logistical and programming elements for All Sports events. Interns also assist with marketing plans and promotions in addition to writing press releases, newsletters, and updates for the website. When at the events, interns are responsible for passing out promotional items, selling programs, and working with co-sponsors to insure a safe, yet amazing, experience for the fans.
From a current Intern
I am a marketing major at OU interested in sports marketing and I find being an intern at All Sports to be a great way to gain experience in my field of study. As a summer intern, I started with two back-to-back events: the Big 12 Baseball Tournament and the NCAA Softball Women’s College World Series. While helping with these events within my first two weeks of interning here, I worked with great conferences and networks including the Big 12, NCAA, and ESPN. When working in the office, I help the staff with whatever they may need. This normally includes writing press releases, working on the website or newsletter, helping with promotional items for the events, and much more. I enjoy being an intern at All Sports because of the professional yet laid back environment and because I am actually assisting with planning and organizing events instead of answering phones and getting people coffee. Interns have a major role in this organization and are trusted with working on very important projects and tasks. It is a great way to gain experience in most PR, marketing, and journalism related fields.
