OKLAHOMA CITY – The Oklahoma City All Sports Association, with the help of the University of Oklahoma, was proud to host the 2008 Women’s College World Series at ASA Hall of Fame Stadium, the premier softball stadium in the nation, in Oklahoma City for the 18th time.
As one of the fastest growing NCAA Championship event, the 2008 Women’s College World Series broke several attendance records, including the largest average session (6,648), largest attended session (8,230), largest opening session (6,240) and largest championship game (7,062) attendance.
Eight schools earned a seed in the tournament bracket, including No.1 Florida, No. 2 UCLA, No. 3 Alabama, No. 4 Virginia Tech, No. 5 Texas A&M, No. 6 Arizona State, No. 7 Arizona and No. 8 Louisiana – Lafayette.
After four days of competition, Texas A&M and Arizona State were set to play a best-of-three series for the national championship. Arizona State shut out Texas A&M in the final series, winning 3-0 and 11-0 to claim its first softball National Championship.
The Women’s College World Series returns to ASA Hall of Fame Stadium next year for the 19th time.
